The material relates to instruction of woodworking courses at Stout and primarily consists of course syllabi developed by Hansen addressing such areas as wood properties, machine safety, woodworking, cabinet-work, furniture making and millwrighting. Also included are occassional instruction sheets, lesson plans, job sheets, furniture project blueprints (most of which were drawn by Paul C. Nelson, another woodworking instructor), a course outline, and a machine operating policy. Also included are two papers written by Hansen's students about machine woodworking. One paper addresses safety precautions in machine woodworking and makes extensive use of photographs (ca. 1938) taken at Ray Hall illustrating safety methods. Hansen's obituary is also included.
